i mean, you type the name of the song and artist you want and your search result turns up page after page of lame cover versions, live performances and remixes. everything but the song you want.

YouTube was at it's prime about... Probably a year ago, maybe a little further back.

But yes, YouTube is becoming all crap and sponsors now.

 

That's because of all the copyright infringement crap that they decided just about everything there had... Ever since like last whenever when they decided to rewrite some of the rules...

YouTube has always sucked. Always. Badly.

 

Basically when Google bought out YouTube is when things REALLY started to change.

Before it was just a place to hang out and post user videos now it's nothing more than an advertising agency for megastars and companies.

And the copyright crap is just stupid.

It is total shit now. In my opinion, all that copywrite shit is really shortsighted. If I can google an artist and get some sense of who they are, I may buy their music, go to their show, buy some merch. If I can't do some research on it or check it out first, that may never happen.

 

That isnt the only reason that youtube sucks. Ever since they brought on the big boys there have been more and more accounts being suspended, vote botted, and phased out. I barely get any exposure on my channel.

 

I know what you mean. On my facebook page I've started doing "song of the day" and I have a lot of difficulty finding a specific song, sometimes. I get a lot of remixes.

Yeah, recently, I've really wanted to listen to Fire of High and Long Train Runnin, but because youtube pulling it all down, I can't find anything good. Also, the song "again" by Yui is another song I wanted to hear, but all I found were covers done by guys which made the song suck when sung by them. I did managed to find Long Train Runnin' luckily enough however, but the next day it was taken down...

 

See thats where downloading the vid comes in handy and than ripping the audio from it

i use the ant toolbar. it comes with a browser based flv player. its awesome.

my porn collection as grown significantly because of it. i'm not exactly sure if that's a good thing though.

I use various youtube/flv downloaders and than use a flv extracter to rip the audio into mp3 its how I can get songs that are like next to impossible to find.

What do you mean by streaming? The vidoes on youtube dont stream they are stored to a central server and all the music/audio that is in the original is saved in the movie file. IE if say I want nickelback or something all I would have to do is go and find the vid on youtube, download it, save it as a .flv and than run my flv extractor to nick the audio. Sadly it only works on .flv files BUT thats where video converting comes in handy

 

Seconded - I always heard that bands make money off of shows & merchandise as opposed to selling CDs. So if we can get the music for free, it's not that big of a deal.
